Books Poem Explanation

“Come in, come in!”

Said the library door;

I opened it wide

And saw books galore!

These lines show a child’s experience as they enter a library. The library’s door is requesting them to come in. When they enter the library, they see an abundance of books.

Tall skinny books

Up high on the shelves;

Little fat books

That stood by themselves.

There are tall and thin books placed high on the shelves and small thick books standing by themselves.

I opened one up

And sat down to look;

The pictures told stories!

What a wonderful book!

The child opens a book from the library and looks at it. The child saw the pictures in the book and the stories those pictures were telling. It was a wonderful book.
